How to create Text Art using Promarker and fineliners: "Time for some action"

The artist

Snooze One

I’m a lettering artist from Berlin with a passion for experimenting with letters. My interest in letterforms started with discovering graffiti at an early age. Shortly after that I got into calligraphy and continued to further explore the world of letters. My style is versatile and features several different tools, materials, and techniques. I’m always looking for a new perspective and new ways to write and build letters.

Step 1

Start by making a grid on your paper. Divide the phrase “Time for some action” into four rows and center the lettering within each row.

Step 2

Roughly sketch the phrase inside the grid, focusing on getting the overall layout. Then, refine the letters until you're satisfied with the design.

Step 3

Once your sketch is complete, choose 4 colours that complement each other. Having multiple colours allows you to alternate between them and create a balanced composition.

Step 4

Place a clean sheet of paper over your sketch. With the sketch underneath, trace the letters onto the new sheet without marking your final paper.

Step 5

Begin filling in the letters by first tracing the outlines, then filling them with colour using a consistent stroke pattern. Use a chisel tip for speed or a pointed tip for cleaner results.

Step 6

Add shading by going over the letters with the same colours. Finish by using a Fineliner to draw in extra details, making the letters stand out.
